BALANCE
Simulation
Predator Prey Relationship
BALANCE is a student-interactive program
designed to investigate predator/prey relationships. Using wolf and deer populations,
students vary population sizes, environments, and deaths. Manipulation of these
variables permits study of the interrelated populations. The influences of carrying
capacity, food supply, environmental conditions, and external pressures on populations
are specifically investigated. In addition, BALANCE can be used
to help develop realistic values in the area of ecology. BALANCE is used best in
a small group classroom situation. It can be a valuable part of an integrated study
of the biological sciences.
